Saddle Hills County Ag Department, in collaboration with KMSC Law, are hosting a Farm Transition Workshop at the Gordondale Hall on February 22, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will cover legal issues in farm estate planning including intestacy, ownership and land issues, division of property, protection from creditors, and corporate matters.

Saddle Hills County are gathering feedback from our resident agricultural producers on how they will be affected by the closures of Richardson Pioneer in Dawson Creek and H&M Meats in Grande Prairie.

Map 1: Since the last report, (September 21^th 2022) dry conditions have continued to prevail over most of the province, with many widely scattered areas receiving less than 1 mm of rain and about 80% of the province’s growing areas receiving less than 5 mm (map 1).

This week’s crop report confirms ongoing harvest progress with above average yield and quality expectations. As at September 20, eighty-seven per cent of all crops were swathed or combined with an expected 10-year yield index of 107 and with grading expectations of the provincial wheat, barley, canola, and pea crops ahead of 10-year averages.
