    Since the last report (June 28, 2023), wide spread rain fell across most of the province from about Red Deer to almost as far North as Grande Prairie (Map 1).

    Several areas in Alberta have experienced limited precipitation this growing season, and as a result, some producers are considering putting their crops to alternate uses rather than waiting for them to mature and mechanically harvesting them.

    Wheat Streak Mosaic (WSM) is a disease caused by the Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus (WSMV). The virus is vectored by the movement and feeding of the wheat curl mite (Aceria tosichella).

    'Precipitation ranging from 0 to more than 175 mm across the province has substantially improved surface soil moisture conditions in most regions.

    Since June 13, significant rains have fallen across a wide area of the province, from roughly Calgary in the south, extending as far north as the Southern portions of the Peace Region (Map 1).

    ' A provincial state of emergency was declared on May 6 due to the number of wildfires in the province, and ended on June 3. The wildfire situation in the northern areas of the province remains serious.
