  • Recognize your local Agricultural Society with an Innovation Award!

    The Agricultural Society Innovation Award recognizes Agricultural Societies in Alberta for their innovation, resilience, and commitment to their communities.

    In 2022, the program recognized three (3) Agricultural Societies which made tremendous impacts on their communities. Foremost & District Agricultural Society collaborated with Foremost School to create an exclusive Rodeo Academy for Grades 7-12, the first of its kind for this age group. The program was open to both out-of-town and international students and has been integrated into the curriculum, with the capacity to draw attendees for years to come.

  • Young Agrarians Business Mentorship Network - Applications Now Open!

    The Young Agrarians Business Mentorship Network (BMN) is now accepting applications!

    Young Agrarians (YA) is a farmer to farmer educational resource network for new and young ecological, organic, and regenerative farmers in Canada. It is volunteer-driven, with farmers across the country organizing on-farm events and building community to create spaces for knowledge sharing and growth. YA is comprised of people new to agriculture, rural or urban, who value food, farmers, ecology, and community. Their core focus demographic is 20-40 years but they accept agrarians of all ages.

  • Alberta Ag Societies Provincial Grant Opportunity - Now Open!

    Alberta’s government is launching the Agricultural Societies Infrastructure Revitalization Program, a new capital grant that allocates $2.5 million annually to help ag societies update existing facilities.

    These buildings are central hubs in their communities, offering residents and visitors opportunities to gather, build connections and engage with their neighbours. Alberta’s communities need effective, up-to-date facilities to encourage community involvement and growth.

  • Moisture Updates - October 4, 2023

    Since September 14, 2023, most of southern Alberta has finally received much needed rain.  Although amounts have been modest through the central (10-15 mm) and northern portions of the region (5-10 mm), it has still been welcome.

  • Accelerating Agricultural Innovations 2.0 - Open for Applications

    RDAR (Results Driven Agriculture Research) invites eligible applicants to submit Letters of Intent to the Accelerating Agricultural Innovations (AAI) 2.0 Program. Letters of Intent will be accepted on a continual basis.

    RDAR is delivering AAI 2.0 alongside the Alberta Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (AGI).

    The launch of AAI 2.0 marks an ambitious path forward in Alberta. Supporting RDAR’s mandate to target strategic investment in producer-led, results-driven agriculture research, AAI 2.0 program funding will power new projects that increase competitiveness, profitability, productivity, and sustainability in Alberta agriculture.

  • AFSC offering $300 Grant to Alberta 4H Clubs

    Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC) is a proud supporter of 4-H in Alberta through post-secondary scholarships, support for a variety of provincial programs, and their 4-H Alberta Grassroots Fund.

    Through this fund, any new or existing 4-H Alberta sanctioned club can apply for up to $300 to be used to support activities, programs, events or initiatives that fall into the areas of Agriculture/Agri-Food, Education and Outreach, and Community Well-Being. Funds are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds are allotted.

  • FCC Drive Away Hunger $1M Match Program

    Farm Credit Canada (FCC) is marking 20 years of Drive Away Hunger by announcing that it will match up to $1 million in new donations to food security agencies in Canada.

    Drive Away Hunger has brought the agriculture and food industry together to support food banks and food security programs. Last year, it raised a record 40 million meals and FCC hopes to inspire an even bigger impact this year.
