  • Women's History Month - October 2023

    October is Women's History Month in Canada, a time to celebrate the women and girls from our past, and our present, who are contributing to a better Canada.

    This year's theme is Through Her Lens: Celebrating the Diversity of Women, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the achievements of women from diverse backgrounds. Let’s continue to honour women who don’t accept the status quo and fight hard to improve the lives of all women.

  • Become a Mighty Peace Tourism Business or Society Member

    Saddle Hills County are proud to partner with Mighty Peace Tourism to promote the Peace Region as a destination for travel and investment. They work to showcase the best northwest Alberta has to offer in order to grow the tourism industry in a sustainable manner, attracting visitors to our region, encouraging them to stay longer, and helping them explore.

  • Pleasant View Lodge - Senior Housing Applications Open!

    A reminder to Saddle Hills County residents that applications for the new Senior Housing Facility in Spirit River, are now open!

    The new development will replace the current Pleasantview Lodge and increase capacity to 92 units. 40 units will be lodge places, and 52 units will be designated for supportive living spaces to help seniors as their care needs change.

  • Our History Drop-in Day - November 7, 2023

    South Peace Regional Archives (SPRA), in partnership with Saddle Hills County, is hosting a History Drop-in Day at the Blueberry Hall, on November 7, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. - 2 :30 p.m.

  • 2023 'Discover the Peace' Photo Contest Judging Begins!

    It's that time, again. Judging for the 2023 'Discover the Peace' Photo Contest has officially begun!

    Cast your vote to ensure that your favourites are in with a chance of winning one of our incredible cash prizes and having their work featured in the 2024 County Calendar.

  • UFA Board Seeking New Directors

    The United Farmers of Alberta (UFA) is currently seeking nominations for three (3) members to join their Board of Directors for a four year term, commencing March 15, 2024. The nomination period runs from September 11, 2023 - November 1, 2023, at 4 p.m.

  • Free Oats for Saddle Hills County Ratepayers!

    The Peace Region Economic Development Alliance (PREDA)  has partnered up with Prairie Oats Growers Association to raise awareness of the value of oats, distributing over 7,500 bags of oats, courtesy of Save on Foods, to 27 municipalities throughout the Peace Region.

  • Hunting Etiquette in County Campgrounds

    Please note that wild game is not to be hung, cleaned, or disposed of in any Saddle Hills County campgrounds and that firearms and bows and arrows are prohibited in these areas.

  • Septic Awareness Week 2023 - Free Septic Sense Webinars

    Do you have Septic Sense?
    September 18 to 22 is Septic Awareness Week, and the Western Canada Onsite Wastewater Management Association (WCOWMA) is urging homeowners to practice Septic Sense by considering both what goes down the drain and how to maintain their septic system.

    Saddle Hills County is looking for members-at-large for the Agricultural Appeal Committee, Agricultural Services Board, Saddle Hills County Municipal Library Board, and the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board.
