Sustainable CAP Water Program Changes
A reminder to our agricultural producers that funding under the new Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership Water Program is available.
There are some differences to the On-Farm Water Supply Stream, as follows:
- Construction must be started, and costs incurred, after April 1, 2023, for any eligible projects
- Standard incentives for new or expanded water source development projects will continue to be cost-shared at 25% grant funding and 75% applicant funding. Eligible projects may include wells, spring developments, dugouts, dams, permanent cisterns, tie-ins to a multi-user water supply pipeline, and unshared pipelines. Off-source watering systems are only eligible as part of an eligible new or expanded water source development. If the water source development is not eligible for funding, the off-source watering is not eligible for funding. The maximum grant for a water source development is $7,500, with a program maximum of $15,000 for all standard incentive projects.
- Clients must speak to an AGI Water Specialist and receive a signed Construction Sheet prior to constructing or incurring any expenses for dugouts, dams, or spring developments
- The cost share for Special Incentives, such as well de-commissioning and well pit removals, has changed depending on the number of projects, to 50% cost share for one, 60% for two, and 75% for three or more.
