Remembering Barbara Buck
With great sadness all of us at and in Saddle Hills County learned of the passing of our friend, and former Councillor, Barbara Buck on December 12, 2022.
Barb was a Saddle Hills County Councillor for Ward 5 (Blueberry Mountain), from 2001-2013, after retiring from a 23 year career with Alberta Hail and Crop Insurance Corporation. In the 12 years she served she saw the completion of many projects, including the construction of the new County complex. During this time she continued to take steps to learn ways to help better serve the residents of Saddle Hills County that were so important to her by attending conferences and workshops across Canada.
She was incredibly committed to her community, dedicating time to the Blueberry Mountain Goodwill Society, Spirit River Library Board, and the Spirit of Peace United Church, as well as the many other committees and boards she was a part of during her time as Councillor.
“It is with a heavy heart that we mark the passing of Barbara Buck. As a Councillor, she was dedicated to, not only the people of her ward - Blueberry Mountain – but to Saddle Hills County as a whole. Her contributions to public life in Saddle Hills County were an example to her community and Council would like to express our sincere condolences to her family and friends.”
