Protect Our Forests: Invasive Species Action Week

Invasive species impact our forests: Over 90% of eastern Hemlock die within 4-15 years of infestation by invasive Hemlock woolly adelgid (Canadian Institute of Forestry, 2023).

Going camping this spring or summer? Don’t bring invasive forest pests along for the trip! Forest pests like emerald ash borer, spongy moth or Hemlock woolly adelgid can be hiding in your firewood without you knowing. Don't take the chance, help prevent the spread of these invasive pests by burning firewood where you buy it, making sure firewood is kiln-dried and by following all firewood movement regulations.
