As of July 24, 2024, there are now seven known, active wildfires in Saddle Hills County. Wildfire GCU009, located in Happy Valley, and Wildfire GCU012, located 300 m south of the Howard Creek and 1 km west of Highway 727, are classified as Being Held and continue to be monitored daily to wet down and check for hotspots. Wildfire GWF056, located approximately 5 km north of Highway 49, east of Range Road 92, is now classified as Extinguished. Wildfire GWF058, located approximately 11 km southwest of Gordondale and north of the Cutbank Lake, has changed to Being Held at 0.9 ha. Wildfire GWF059, located 15 km southeast of Gordondale and north of Ksituan Lake, has changed to Under Control at 0.02 ha. Wildfire GWF066, GWF070, and GWF071 are all located in the Forest Protection Area, south of Gordondale, and are considered as Being Held at 0.01 ha, Under Control at 0.10 ha, and Being Held at 0.05 ha.

Northmark Road (Township Road 764) Paving Project

Work has begun on the Northmark Road (Township Road 764) Asphalt Paving Project.

The project will see 5.6 km of the road paved, east from Range Road 70 to Highway 731. Paving is due for completion by October 15, 2024.

Please watch out for workers and large equipment, slow down, and drive with caution through this area.
