Host a Wildfire Community Preparedness Event in your Community
Wildfire Community Preparedness Day is a national campaign that encourages citizens to take actions that increase their home, neighbourhood, and communities resilience to wildfire.
The next Wildfire Community Preparedness Day will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Residents are encouraged to come together at any time from May to October to host events and work on projects that raise awareness of wildfire risk and increase resilience.
Groups can apply for a $500 award from FireSmart to fund their event, in collaboration with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR), and The Co-operators. In 2023, the program awarded $500 each to 230 neighbourhoods, in 10 provinces and two territories.
For information on how to apply and resources, visit the FireSmart website at firesmartcanada.ca and let them know about the event you're planning.
