Grand Opening of the New Blueberry Fire Hall
Thank you to all those who came out and celebrated with us at the Grand Opening of the new Blueberry Mountain Fire Hall, on Saturday, April 12, 2025. It was great to see so many people in our community come together to celebrate this milestone.
Those in attendance were treated to lunch, catered by The Alberts, as well as tours of the hall and equipment throughout the event.
Reeve, Kristen Smith welcomed everyone to the event and made a few comments on the work it takes to build a fire hall, thanking all those who played a part in it's construction.
"As you’ve probably realised from the time it has taken for this project to come to fruition, a lot of work goes into planning and building a fire hall. Thankfully, at Saddle Hills County, we are blessed with a great Administration team and dedicated volunteer firefighters who have made this process as easy as possible.
The project started back in 2022, with the purchase of the land on which we now stand. After accepting the Design/Build proposal from K&M Building Contractors in 2023, we saw work begin on the hall in 2024. Since then, our teams have worked together tirelessly to ensure that this project was completed to the highest standards. We want to commend them for all their hard work. The fire hall is now operational, and final landscaping work will be completed later this spring.
While we are still waiting on delivery of the newest fire truck for this facility, we invite you to take the time to tour our facility and current equipment, and chat with some of our amazing volunteer firefighters." - Reeve Smith
The Reeve went on to present Blueberry Mountain Chief, Brent Konstapel, with a commemorative plaque from Saddle Hills County, which was followed by a second plaque presentation from the Central Peace Fire and Rescue Commission, presented by Jordan Stokes and Kyle Miller.
Ward 5 Councillor Shirley Klatt, Deputy Reeve Alvin Hubert, along with Councillors Ed Armagost, Danny Roy, and Gerry Richard joined Reeve Smith and Fire Chief Konstapel for the commemorative ribbon cutting to officially declare the fire hall open.
