First of its Kind: Indoor Agriculture Certificate at Olds College

To meet the growing demands for skilled labour in the field of Controlled Environment Agriculture, Olds College is now offering an Indoor Agriculture Certificate, the first of its kind in Canada.

In the four month introductory program, students will gain hands-on experience and the knowledge necessary to optimize plant growth with indoor technology, including vertical farming and hydroponics. The program balances plant production techniques with current technologies and business practices to ensure success in the emerging field.

The certificate is partially funded by RBC, as part of a $150,000 commitment to promote and advance research and innovation in the field of Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA).

Following completion of the required courses, students will have the opportunity to complete an optional field placement. This will allow participants to explore CEA systems based on their specific areas of interest and enhance their industry-specific knowledge.

Applications for the program are now open, and more information can be found on the Olds College website at www.oldscollege.ca

Both Olds College and Saddle Hills County offer Student Bursaries for those enrolling in post-secondary education.
