Emergency Department Closure - December 2, 2024

In a press release, Alberta Health Services has advised that due to an unexpected staffing shortage and inability to secure temporary coverage, the Central Peace Health Complex Emergency Department will be temporarily closed from 8 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024, to 8 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

This is a temporary measure and Alberta Health Services is working hard to ensure local residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time.

Patients are asked to call 911 is they have a medical emergency during this time.

EMS will be re-routed to alternate healthcare sites to ensure that residents continue to have access to the emergency services they need.

For non-emergency health-related questions, residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available on a 24/7 basis.

They state that they are thankful for the support of surrounding healthcare centres and medical staff and would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding during this time.

Alberta Health Service continues to aggressively recruit healthcare professionals for rural areas and these closures may not occur if coverage is found. This temporary closure, as well as any updates, is posted to the AHS Website
