Be Prepared: Summer Road Trips
If you’re headed on a road trip this long weekend or any time over the summer, #BePrepared for any emergency by taking the following precautions:
- Download 511 Alberta and other apps to source the weather forecast, road conditions, and other pertinent information before you leave and while on the road.
- If a severe thunderstorm arises, pull over and take shelter as a vehicle does not offer significant protection from flooding, lightning or hail.
- Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle at all times. You can use this emergency kit for your vehicles checklist to learn what to gather.
- Leave with a full tank or fully charged vehicle and make stops along the way to ensure you have enough fuel.
The best way to spend the long weekend is at ease knowing you’ve prepared for anything that could happen. Check out the Be Prepared Program resources to build risk literacy and keep you and your loved ones safe!
