Be Prepared: Stronger Together

Creating connections with your community builds resilience in any emergency. #BePrepared together with the following tips:

  • Start a conversation. Who has a gas fireplace in case of a power outage? Who has access to a vehicle or can help move your pets if you aren’t home? Do new neighbours know the hazards in the area? Get to know those around you and discuss how to support each other.
  • Create a contact list. Include neighbours in your emergency plan to identify who may need help and who can offer assistance.
  • Write a grab and go list and share it with a trusted community member. Having a buddy system ensures someone can collect essentials if you’re not home.

Building self-reliance is an important piece of preparedness, but we are stronger together. Watch the quick video below to learn more about how community connections enhance preparedness.
