Be Prepared: Make a Plan

The current wildfire conditions in Alberta are a good reminder to review, practice and update your emergency plan with your household so everyone knows what to do if a wildfire – or any other hazard - threatens your home or community.

Improve your readiness by:

  • Determining safe exits from your home and neighbourhood. Download 511Alberta to access current road conditions.
  • Deciding with your household on a shared meeting place outside of your community and ensure it is pet friendly (if applicable).
  • Designating a person to pick up your children or pets if you are unavailable.
  • Creating a list of things you cannot live without. Critical thinking during a time of stress is challenging. Having a list that you follow to quickly grab and go will help.
