Fire Restriction in Effect

As of July 29, 2024, a FIRE RESTRICTION is in place for Saddle Hills County and the Grande Prairie Forest Protection Area. Fire Permits may be restricted or suspended, as required.

Under a Fire Restriction, safe wood campfires are allowed on public lands, in a designated campground, in backyard firepits, and on private lands.

2024 Roadside Spraying in Progress

Crews from the Agricultural Services Department are currently spraying roadsides throughout the County, weather permitting, to protect agricultural producers from noxious and prohibited weeds.

The spray areas for 2024 include the Gordondale, Northmark, Westmark, and Woking areas.

The Agricultural Services Department conducts their annual spraying program on County road allowances, using a 3 year rotational cycle, to ensure effective weed and pest control for the entirety of the County.

Selective herbicide application on roadsides is done to control the spread of noxious and prohibited noxious weeds.
