Council Delegations

If you have an issue you would like to discuss or an idea to present to Council directly during a Regular Council Meeting, you can apply to appear as a Council Delegation.

Our administration staff are always available to help you answer any questions or concerns you may have. We are committed to ensuring our residents and ratepayers receive the best possible service, and if are experiencing an issue, Staff may be able to help you solve it without requiring you to appear as a Council Delegation.

To appear as a Delegation, please complete and submit a Council Meeting Delegation Form either online, or in person at the County Office during regular business hours. Please include any presentation materials or resources you would like included, as Council will be able to review these and have copies for the meeting.

If you know which meeting you would like to speak at, please complete the application as far in advance as possible. Council Delegation requests are required to be received before 4:30 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to the meeting.

Once received, our Legislative Coordinator will be in touch to schedule a time for you to appear before Council. If you have any questions about Delegations or Council Meetings or would like to speak to someone in more detail, please contact us at admin@saddlehills.ab.ca or call (780) 864-3760.

What happens during my Delegation?

Once a time has been scheduled for you to appear before Council, you will be required to appear at the Meeting either in person or via a virtual telecommunications link.

Regular Council Meetings are held in the Council Chambers at the Saddle Hills County Admin Building on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, unless otherwise stated.

Council will hear your delegation at the scheduled time, but we recommend arriving at least half an hour before you are due to speak. This will give you time to register at the front desk, get seated in the Chambers, and prepare any materials you will need for your presentation.

You will have fifteen minutes to speak to Council about the matter included in your delegation request. This time limit may be extended at the discretion of Council.

During this time, Council may ask you questions about your presentation. Please respond to all questions honestly and in as much detail as possible, to allow Council to make a fair decision.

Decisions related to delegations are made later in the meeting. After completing your delegation, you may choose to stay for the remainder of the meeting as a member of the public or leave at this time.

Minutes of the meeting will be posted online as soon as possible after the conclusion of the meeting, where you will be able to view Council's decision. Depending on the reason for the delegation and the decision, you may receive further details via phone or letter from the County.

If you have any questions relating to the decision, please contact Administration at (780) 864-3760 or email admin@saddlehills.ab.ca and a member of staff will be more than happy to assist you.
