Saddle Hills County is looking at the feasibility for turning natural gas into fertilizer for sale into the local economy as well as export.

In February, MLA for Dunvegan-Central Peace announced grant funding for a number of agricultural initiatives in the Peace River Region and Saddle Hills County's initiative to research the feasibility of turning natural gas into urea fertilizer received $25,000 for that purpose.

The County has identified the opportunity to create jobs and save farmers the cost of shipping fertilizer the estimated 500 kms currently required.
