VSI (Veterinary Services Inc.)

We know that as a rural community it can be hard to access the veterinary services you need. 

Our Veterinary Services Incorporated (VSI) Program was designed to incentivize Veterinarians to practice in rural areas like Saddle Hills County, and splits veterinary costs with the ranchers in our community.

The VSI is a taxable benefit. If you use upwards of $100 through the program, you will receive a Statement of Farm Support Payments each spring. This can then be used for tax purposes, taxable at 100% for yourself or your business.

Enroll in, or Exit, the Program

To enroll in the program, producers are required to enter a VSI Agreement with us. Once complete, we will give you a unique VSI Number. This number lasts for life, even if you leave or re-enter the program, but membership does have to be renewed annually. 

To apply for a VSI number, please complete and submit a VSI Application Form, either online, by download and completing the Fillable PDF, or at our office during regular business hours. To withdraw from the program, and let us know if you change your address in address, contact our Agricultural Services Department at ag@saddlehills.ab.ca or call (780) 864-3760.
