Student Bursary Program to Now Include Trades & Commercial Driver Training

Saddle Hills County Council recently made changes to Policy AD34 - Bursary Program, to accommodate students enrolled in trades and commercial driver training programs, recognizing the importance these fields play in our region and continued prosperity.

Applications are always open for this bursary, with the deadline being June 1 of each calendar year.

About our Student Bursary Program

Our Bursary Program is available to eligible local students looking to enter or advance their education. This includes post-secondary education, trades, or commercial driver training school. Applicants may also qualify for additional matching NADC bursaries.

Student Eligibility

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a resident of Saddle Hills County for a minimum of one year and have a minimum of one year's residency in Alberta immediately prior to the application date.
  • Be enrolled full-time in a recognized program, which includes post-secondary education, trades, and commercial class 1 driver training.
  • Be committed to living and working in northern Alberta post-graduation.
  • Have reasonably good prospects for employment in northern Alberta post-graduation.

Bursary Application Process

Students looking to be considered for a Saddle Hills County Student Bursary should complete the following steps:

  • Write a paragraph of at least 200 words detailing your chosen field of study.
  • Supply two (2) letters of reference.
  • Complete the Bursary Application, either online or by submitting a completed PDF application via email to finance@saddlehills.ab.ca or mail to: Saddle Hills County, RR1, Spirit River, AB. T0H 3G0, before the June 1 deadline.
